Sometimes It Happens is about a girl named Hannah who just got dumped by her boyfriend on the last day of junior year. Ava, her best friend, says she'll be there for her throughout the whole thing, but later tells her she's going away for the summer. Hannah is left on her own, when a boy from school, Noah, gives her a job and they start to like eachother. Problem? Noah is Ava's boyfriend. The book alternates between the summer and the first day of senior year.
Sometimes It Happens was a waste of my time. I had higher expectations after reading Two Way Street, but it was horrible. Sorry, Lauren. This was exactly like Something Like Fate (Susane Colasanti) but with more mature disscusions. Lets start with the characters. Hannah is the opposite of what girls must be today. She complained and was always obsessing over Sebastion if he was thinking of her, why he hasn't called, why he kissed her (List goes on). Then she obsesses with Noah, why isn't he talking to me, is he thinking of me, do I have feelings for him (Once again the list goes on). The chapters about the summer took up most the book, as apposed to the first day of senior year it was about five to ten pages each. At about ninety pages in a senior year chapter you figure out Noah and Hannah slept together, so they just screwed the summer chapters. All the summer does now is see how the chemistry grew (Which wasn't interesting, might I add) and fill in a few small questions. I only finished to see if any twists came in that weren't expected. Well, the ending was most definitly unexpected. Horrible ending.
